Our annual Easter Food and Easter Basket distribution will provide a nutritious Easter meal to approximately 1,300 families. Each family receives a ham, potatos, onions, carrots, bread, eggs, apples, pie, cookies, jelly beans, and a box of candy. Families with children will also receive an Easter Basket. Heartfelt thanks to Saint Mary's Center and to all our volunteers.

I hope the Easter Bunny has as many great volunteers as Friends of the Poor. Over 2,000 Easter baskets were donated by individuals, schools, companies, Brownie Troops and fitness groups. Preparing for our Easter Food and Easter Basket distribution at Saint Mary's Center.

Friend's of the Poor welcomes volunteers for regular volunteer service or one-time special events/projects. Assistance is needed from individuals, families and groups. On a daily basis, volunteers assist in organizing the food pantry, clothing, and household item distributions. Special projects include collections of items for children and senior citizens, assistance at the large food giveaways at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, transportation of food to pantry sites and many other projects and events.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

At this time we are also looking for help with our summer lunch programs and our community garden project. Lunch is served at 6 locations every week day and gardening times are flexible.

To get involved with any of these programs, contact us or follow us on facebook for regular updates on volunteering.
